Purging a dataset permanently removes all data previously synced into Databox for that dataset — without affecting data in the original source. This is useful when you need to clear out stale or incorrect data and allow Databox to re-sync a clean dataset on the next sync cycle.
- Open the Datasets tab from either location:
- Find the dataset you want to purge.
- Click the down arrow (
) next to it and select Purge historical data.
- In the confirmation dialog, review the warning message.
- Click Purge data to confirm.

FAQ
Does purging a dataset affect metrics created from it?
Purging removes the synced data from the dataset but does not delete the dataset itself or any metrics created from it. Once data is re-synced, metrics will reflect the updated values.
What happens to my data after a purge?
Databox will re-sync data from the source on the next scheduled sync. The amount of historical data recovered depends on the sync history window available for that data source.
What's the difference between purging and deleting a dataset?
Purging removes all synced data from Databox while keeping the dataset and its configuration intact. Deleting removes the dataset entirely, along with any metrics built from it.
