Guide: Reporting on Slack data in Databox

Currently, there is not a direct Databox + Slack integration available, but there are alternative ways to sync your Slack data with Databox.

These alternatives utilize third-party integrations such as Zapier, Integromat, or the Databox API.

Pro Tip: If you don't have the time or resources to set this up yourself, check out our services where we can build the custom integration for you. For additional information, feel free to connect with our team via chat or email us at [email protected].

HOW TO

How to use Zapier to sync Slack data

Zapier is a trigger-based app, meaning you can have certain events (such as a new card being added) trigger certain actions (updating the relevant data and syncing with Databox) using Zaps. Because triggers initiate data syncs, historical data will not be available for metrics that are synced using Zapier.

Whenever possible, it’s recommended that you use a Zap Template. This will save you time and will streamline the process of syncing Slack data with Databox using Zapier.

You can also create Zaps from scratch if a Zap Template isn’t available.

The following Slack Metrics can also be synced with Databox by creating a Zap from scratch:

  • New Channel
(triggered when a new channel is created)
  • New Mention
(triggered when a username or highlight word is mentioned in a public channel)
  • New User
(triggered when a new user is created)
  • New File
(triggered when a new file is uploaded)

How to use Integromat to sync Slack data

Integromat is a third-party integration that allows you to sync data between apps. Integromat has a long list of native integrations along with the ability to sync custom data via the API.

Whenever possible, it’s recommended that you use an Integromat Template. This will save you time and will streamline the process of syncing Slack data with Databox using Integromat.

If a Template isn’t available, you can sync additional Slack with Databox using Integromat by setting it up from scratch.

Syncing additional Slack Metrics using Integromat

The following Slack Metrics can also be synced with Databox by setting up the connection from scratch:

  • New Message
(triggered when a new message is created)
  • Watch Public Channel Messages
(triggered when a new message is added to a public channel)
  • Watch Private Channel Messages
(triggered when a new message is added to a direct message channel)
  • List Channels
(retrieves a list of all channels)
  • List Members in Channel
(retrieves a list of members in a channel)
  • Watch Files
(triggered when a new file is added)
  • List Files
(retrieves a list of files within the team)
  • Watch Users
(triggered when a new user is added)
  • List Users
(retrieves a list of all users)

Use the Databox API to sync Slack data

If you’re comfortable using scripting languages or you have developer resources available, you can build your own custom integration and push Slack data via the Databox API.
