The Funnel visualization provides a clear view of sequential stages in a process, showing conversion rates as users, leads, or other entities move from one stage to the next. Widely used in sales, marketing, and project management, this visualization is especially effective in analyzing completion rates and identifying where drop-offs occur within a process. By focusing on stage-by-stage transitions, the Funnel visualization helps teams optimize workflows, customer journeys, or any other linear process that involves multiple steps.

Features

The following features highlight the key functionalities of the Funnel visualization:

  • Display up to 15 stages, each representing a metric or dimension, with an optional 16th "Other" stage to group remaining values.
  • Dimensions within a single stage of a dimensional metric can be stacked and color-coded for easy differentiation.
  • Stage names can be customized.
  • Comparisons are configured individually for each stage.
  • Stages can be sorted by value, metric or dimension name, change value, or manually rearranged in a custom order.
  • Conversion rates can be calculated either stage-by-stage or relative to the first stage.
  • Option to hide conversion rates if desired.
  • The chart legend can be hidden to maximize display area.

Considerations

  • Customization of funnel and stage colors is not supported in this visualization.

Use Cases

Here are a few examples where the Funnel visualization would be useful:

  • Sales Funnels: Visualize customer journey stages from awareness to purchase, seeing conversion rates at each stage.
  • Marketing Campaign Stages: Track conversions from ad clicks to final actions, identifying drop-offs.
  • Project Workflows: Measure completion rates from start to finish to understand process bottlenecks.
  • Recruitment Pipelines: Track candidate progress through application, interview, and hiring stages, optimizing for drop-offs.
