Certain connections in Databox can be shared with other users within your account or with client accounts associated with an agency account. When you share a connection, you grant selected users or client accounts the ability to utilize this connection to add new data sources. This sharing capability streamlines the process by allowing these users to leverage the existing connection, which eliminates the need for additional setup or input from the original connection owner.

magic-wand Tip: Visit our Metric Library to find out if a specific integration supports connection sharing.

Share a connection

When you begin the connection process, you will be prompted to decide whether to share the connection with others in your account. Two options will be available:

  • Share this connection with your team
Select this option to allow your team members to add new data sources using your account information without requiring further action from you.
Example: Your company operates multiple stores, and you have access to all of them, but your team does not. By sharing the connection, your team can add data sources for each store you have access to in Databox.
  • Share this connection with your client accounts
If you are working on an agency account, you can share the connection with all client accounts under that account. This allows your account managers to add new data sources to client accounts using the shared connection, eliminating the need to reconnect the integration on each client account.
Example: Your agency manages the ad accounts of several clients using your credentials. By sharing the connection, your team can add data sources for the individual ad accounts to their respective client accounts in Databox.

If you change your mind later, you can adjust the connection's access permissions at any time:

  1. Go to Account Management > Data Manager > Connections
  2. Find the connection in the list
  3. Click the down arrow button and select Edit permissions.

There, you can specify which users have access to the connection, ensuring that only selected individuals within the account can use it to add new data sources.

attention-1 Caution: Sharing a connection may grant visibility into sensitive resources that you can view but others cannot, so proceed with care.

Transfer a connection

Connections cannot be shared directly across client accounts within an agency account. To share a connection available only in a client account, transfer it to the agency account first, then share it with all client accounts.

To transfer a connection:

  1. Navigate to Account Management > Data Manager > Connections.
  2. Find the connection in the list.
  3. Click the down arrow and select Transfer to agency.
pin Note: Only users from the agency account who have access to the client account can perform this action.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check if a specific connection is being shared?

You can check if a connection is being shared by visiting the Account Management > Data Manager > Connections page. Look in the Shared With column to see the sharing status of each connection.

What is the benefit of sharing a connection?

  • Simplifies credential management: Eliminates the need to enter the same credentials multiple times when adding data sources from the same Integration.

  • Enhances collaboration: Facilitates teamwork by allowing other users to add new data sources as needed.

  • Speeds up issue resolution: Accelerates the resolution of disconnection issues since multiple data sources can be reconnected by reauthenticating a single connection.

Why can't I share a specific connection?

You can only share connections in Databox if the integration supports multiple accounts with a single set of credentials and its API allows for this functionality. If an integration does not support this, you'll need to create a new connection for each additional data source you add to your Databox account.
