# Set default number format

Number formatting varies across different regions, with distinct conventions for separating thousands and decimals. For instance, some regions use a dot (.) to separate thousands and a comma (,) for decimals, while others do the opposite. For example, in Europe, 1.234,56 might represent one thousand two hundred thirty-four point fifty-six, whereas in the USA, the same number would be written as 1,234.56. Understanding and correctly applying these formats is essential for clear communication and accurate data interpretation.

Databox allows you to set the number format that best suits your needs, ensuring consistency across all visualizations in your account. Whether you prefer the European format or the American format, you can customize this setting to match your specific requirements.
