HOW TO TRACK

How to track Account Overview data

IN THIS SECTION

Basic Metrics

There are a variety of Basic Facebook Ads Metrics available in Databox that allow you to analyze your Account Overview data. This includes "Impressions," "Amount Spent," "Link Clicks," and "CTR."

To view these Metrics in Databox, navigate to Metrics > Metrics Library and select Facebook from the Data Source drop-down. Metrics that do not have "by" in the Metric name are Account Overview Metrics (i.e., "Amount Spent," not "Account Spent by Campaign").

Custom Metrics

Custom Account Overview Metrics can be built using the Metric Builder for Facebook Ads (Ads Reporting).

Metric Builder is available on the Professional and higher plans. Request a trial of Metric Builder by following these steps.

Navigate to  Metrics > Custom Metrics to access the Metric Builder for Facebook Ads (Ads Reporting). Click the green + New Custom Metric button and select your connected Facebook Ads Account from the Data Source drop-down.

Choose the metric you'd like to track from the  Metric drop-down. Some Metrics (such as "Clicks," "Reach," and Spend") are available directly from the Metric drop-down.

Certain Metric selections will expose additional Metric options. For example, selecting Actions will expose an Action Type field. From this drop-down, you can select Metrics such as "Link Clicks," "Page Likes," and "Post Engagements." Custom Actions set within your Facebook Ads Account will also be accessible from the Action Type drop-down.

Selecting a Dimension is optional and the need will depend on the Custom Metric you want to track. Dimensions split up the selected Metric based on the specified parameter (i.e., "Age," "Country," "Placement," etc.).

For example, creating a Custom Metric to track "Spend" does not require a Dimension to be selected. Creating a Custom Metric to track "Spend by Country" would require a Dimension to be selected ("Country").

Click Preview data to generate a Data Preview of the Custom Metric. Once you confirm that these are the results you're looking for, click Save

How to track Results

"Results" shows how well you're performing based on the business objectives and settings you chose. Since this is customizable "Results" is not a Metric that can be directly selected in Databox.

Instead, you must use the Metric Builder for Facebook Ads (Ads Reporting) in order to track the specific "Result" actions.

For example, you may be tracking "Reach," "Link Clicks," and "Post Engagements" as "Results."

In the Metric Builder for Facebook Ads (Ads Reporting), these are all listed as Actions

Navigate to  Metrics > Custom Metrics to access the Metric Builder for Facebook Ads (Ads Reporting). Click the green + New Custom Metric button and select your connected Facebook Ads Account from the Data Source drop-down.

Choose the Actions from the Metric drop-down. This will expose the Action Type field. From this drop-down, select your first "Result" (such as "Link Clicks").

If you'd like to split your results up by a commonality (such as Campaign, Ad Set, or Ad), select this in the Dimension field.

Click  Preview data to generate a Data Preview of the Custom Metric. Once you confirm that these are the results you're looking for, click  Save
After creating Custom Metrics for each Result Action, you can aggregate them using Data Calculations to create a "Results" Metric in Databox.
