# Manage your notification channels

Alerts that arrive in the wrong place get ignored, and alerts that arrive everywhere get muted. Notification channels control where Databox reaches you personally — your inbox, Slack, or both — and let you opt out of product news separately from the alerts you rely on. The setting applies to your user only, so each teammate chooses their own channels.

## Turn notification channels on or off

1. Click your **profile avatar** and select [**My profile**.](https://app.databox.com/?customize=profile)
2. Scroll to the **Notification channels** section.
3. Switch each channel on or off:
  - **Email notifications** — delivers notifications to the email address on your Databox user.
  - **Slack notifications** — delivers notifications to your connected Slack workspace. Your organization needs [Slack connected](/receive-notifications-in-slack) before this channel can deliver anything.
  - **Marketing emails** — news about features, events, and offers from Databox. Switching this off has no effect on the notifications you've set up.


These toggles decide where notifications are delivered, not which ones exist. What you actually receive depends on the notifications set up for you — click **Manage notifications** to review them, or see [Set up a metric notification](/set-up-a-metric-notification).

No. The Databox app has to be installed in a Slack workspace first, and only Slack workspace admins can install it. See [Receive notifications in Slack](/receive-notifications-in-slack).

No. Notification channels are set per user, so switching off email notifications stops them for you alone. Teammates keep receiving whatever their own profiles allow.

No. Marketing emails cover product news, events, and offers from Databox. Scheduled deliveries such as report and dashboard notifications are controlled by the **Email notifications** channel and by the notifications themselves.
