# Delete a template

Cleaning up outdated or unused templates helps keep your workspace organized, reduces clutter, and makes it easier for team members to find and use the right templates. It also ensures your team consistently follows approved reporting formats, avoids confusion from duplicate or outdated layouts, and maintains a higher level of data accuracy and professionalism in shared Databoards and reports.

## Delete a template

You can only delete **account templates**. Public templates are shared across all Databox accounts and cannot be modified or removed.

To delete an account template:

1. Go to the **Account Templates** section on the [Databoards](https://app.databox.com/databoards) or [Reports](https://app.databox.com/reports) page.
2. Hover over the template you want to delete.
3. Click the three-dot menu (![ellipsis](/assets/ellipsis.051eb8ee69412e239fabef893a448a7fc78513c5deb8b912fcbe30df2e4f3a32.419bb737.svg)) and select **Delete**.
  - To delete multiple templates at once, click the checkbox at the top left to select them, then click the down arrow (![chevron-down](/assets/chevron-down.dfd0e90adc6eb576be32262463090aae7c7f5408ed7975e3795f69775e36d174.419bb737.svg)) at the top of the screen and choose **Delete**.
4. In the confirmation dialog, type `DELETE` and click **Yes, delete** to confirm.
  - When you delete a Databoard Loop, you'll have the option to remove just the Loop template while preserving the individual Databoards as standalone account templates.

Deleted templates cannot be recovered. If you think you might need a template again, consider renaming it or archiving it by adding a prefix like "ARCHIVED –" instead.

No, there's no undo option for deletions. If you deleted a template by mistake, you'll need to recreate it from scratch.

You can rename them to move them to the bottom of the list (e.g., “ZZZ – Old Template”) or prefix with “ARCHIVED –” for clarity.

No, those remain intact. Only the template itself is removed from your account.
