# Delete a data source

Deleting data sources in Databox is simple and helps keep your workspace organized. Whether removing outdated data, decluttering, or managing permissions, it's essential to know how to delete data sources effectively. This ensures only relevant data remains, enhancing your account's performance and usability.

## Delete a data source

Data sources can only be deleted in the Account Management section by the user who added the data source or an account admin. If you have the necessary permissions:

1. Navigate to [Account Management > Data Manager > Data Sources](https://app.databox.com/data-manager/data-sources).
2. Find the data source you want to delete in the list.
3. Click the **down arrow** (![chevron-down](/assets/chevron-down.dfd0e90adc6eb576be32262463090aae7c7f5408ed7975e3795f69775e36d174.419bb737.svg)) and select **Delete**.
4. Type "DELETE" in the input box to confirm and proceed.

If the data source you are deleting is the only one associated with a particular connection, that connection will also be deleted.

Data source deletions cannot be reversed, and all synced data will be permanently lost. Only proceed if you are certain that you won't need any of this data in your Databox account in the future.

No. The **Token** data source is used by the system to manage certain metrics behind the scenes and therefore cannot be deleted. It's automatically created when the account is set up, does not count toward your data source limit, and has no impact on billing.

While it can technically be used to store custom data, this is not recommended. For that purpose, it's best to create a separate custom data source.
