Databox Benchmarks are aggregated performance comparisons based on anonymized data from participating accounts. They help you understand how your metrics perform relative to similar companies by industry, company size, or other shared attributes. Instead of viewing metrics in isolation, benchmarks provide context through percentile rankings and median values, making it easier to evaluate performance and identify opportunities for improvement.

Benchmark Groups extend this functionality by allowing you to compare performance within a defined set of companies, such as clients, partners, or invite-only participants. While Benchmarks use broader aggregated peer data, Benchmark Groups focus on comparisons within a specific group you manage.

loudspeakerWarning: The Benchmarks and Benchmark Groups features will be deprecated on April 6, 2026. After this date, all private and public Benchmark Groups will be removed, and benchmark functionality in the app will no longer be available. You will not be able to create benchmarks or display benchmark comparison lines on charts.

This change reflects a shift toward Databox’s dataset and AI-powered infrastructure, including Datasets, the Databox MCP server, and Genie (AI Analyst). If you would like to retain any benchmark data before April 6, 2026, contact your Account Manager or Support to request an export where available.

Benchmark your data

Benchmarks help you understand how performance compares to similar companies. Benchmark Groups allow you to compare performance across a defined set of accounts, such as clients or partners.

You can:

  • View aggregated industry benchmarks
  • Create and manage custom Benchmark Groups
  • Invite companies to participate
  • Manage users and data sources within group accounts
  • Use benchmark insights in reporting and lead generation

View benchmarks

To access benchmarks:

  1. Navigate to Benchmarks.
  2. Select a metric to view available comparisons.
  3. Apply filters such as industry or company size.
  4. Review aggregated performance data displayed in charts and percentile distributions.

Only supported metrics with sufficient participation are available.

How benchmark data is calculated

Benchmark data is based on anonymized and aggregated metrics from participating accounts.

  • Data is grouped by shared attributes such as industry or company size.
  • Individual company data is never exposed.
  • Aggregations typically use statistical measures such as median and percentiles.
  • Minimum participation thresholds must be met for data to appear

Benchmark Groups follow the same calculation logic but are limited to group members.

Create and manage Benchmark Groups

Benchmark Groups allow you to compare performance across selected companies.

To create a group:

  1. Go to Benchmark Groups.
  2. Click Host Group.
  3. Enter group details.
  4. Invite companies to join.

After creation, you can manage members, users, and integrations within the group account

Manage clients and users in a Benchmark Group account

Within a Benchmark Group account, you can control membership and access.

To manage clients:

  1. Open the Benchmark Group account.
  2. From your avatar menu, click Client management.
  3. Add or remove client accounts as needed.

To manage users:

  1. Go to User Management.
  2. Invite users and assign roles.
  3. Remove users when access is no longer required.

User roles determine who can manage settings, members, and data.

Manage data sources

Benchmark calculations rely on eligible, actively syncing integrations.

To manage integrations:

  1. Open Data manager > Data sources.
  2. Review connected data sources.
  3. Reconnect or update credentials if needed.

Only supported native integrations contribute to benchmark data.

Update company information

Company attributes influence how accounts are grouped in benchmarks.

To update company details:

  1. Go to Account Management > Company Information.
  2. Edit industry, business type, number of employees, and annual revenue.

Accurate information ensures correct benchmark comparisons.

Use benchmarks in reporting and lead generation

Benchmarks can support marketing and client reporting by providing performance context.

You can:

  • Include benchmark comparisons in presentations
  • Create invite-only Benchmark Groups
  • Use benchmark surveys to collect comparative data
  • Share percentile positioning to demonstrate value

Frequently Asked Questions

Is benchmark data anonymous?

Yes. All data is aggregated and anonymized. Individual company data is not visible to other participants.

Why don’t I see benchmarks for certain metrics?

Benchmarks are only available for supported metrics that meet minimum participation thresholds.

Can I create a Benchmark Group using custom data?

No. Only supported native integrations and basic metrics are eligible for benchmark calculations.
