Overview: Account Templates for Databoards

Account Templates for Databoards, complete with the Data Sources, Metrics, and visualizations that you need, can help you create an efficient reporting process for your business. You can save Databoard Account Templates in your Agency Account and easily access and repopulate them with unique data in all of your Client Accounts. Account Templates can help you create consistency across your client dashboards and increase efficiency in your reporting process.

How to access Databoard Account Templates

To access Account Templates for Databoards, navigate to Databoards > Account Templates. Here, you will see all Databoard Account Templates that are saved in your Account. 

Pro Tip: All Account Templates are populated with dummy data, meaning this is not showing live data from your Data Sources. To view live data, you must use the Account Template as a Databoard. Learn how here

How to set permissions for Databoard Account Templates

When saving a new Databoard Account Template, you have the ability to set permissions to restrict access to the Template. To edit this later on, navigate to Databoards > Account Templates, hover over the Template, and select ... > User Permissions

  • Selecting Everyone will give all users in your Account access to the Template.
  • Selecting Selected Users will give you the ability to choose users from the Account who you would like to have access to the Template. 
  • Selecting Private to Me will only give you access to the Template

Pro Tip: Client Users (users added within a Client Account) can only see Account Templates that were made in their Client Account and were shared with them. Client Users cannot see Account Templates made in other Client Account or in the Agency Account (even if Everyone is selected for the Template permissions)

The ability to edit the Account Template depends on each user's User Role. 

  • Admins and Editors with access to an Account Template will have the ability to use, edit, or delete the Template.
  • Users with access to an Account Template will have the ability to use the Template (not able to edit or delete).

How to use Databoard Account Templates

  1. Navigate to Databoards > Account Templates Preview
  2. Use Filters or the Search bar to find a Template that meets your needs. Click Preview to view a preview of the Template populated with dummy data.  
    1. Pro Tip: If you can't find a Template that's an exact match for your use case, consider using one that has the majority what you're looking for. Once you download a Template to your Account, it is completely yours to customize as you see fit.
  3. Click Use Template to use this Template as a Databoard  
  4. Select the appropriate Data Source(s) from your Account to populate the Databoard with data, or connect the necessary Data Source(s).
    1. If you don't have a Data Source connected that is needed for the Databoard, you will not be able to use the Template
  5. The Databoard will now be available in your Account on the Databoards page
    1. Pro Tip: Open the new Databoard in the Designer to further customize it to meet your data needs.  

How to best use Databoard Account Templates as an Agency 

The main purpose of Databoard Account Templates is to make it easier for Agency Partners to automate Client reporting. 

Create Templates to prove the value of your services on your Client's business. Be sure to create dashboards that answer key questions, such as what are you delivering to your client? What is the result of those deliverables on your Client's business?

How to best use Databoard Account Templates as a standard user

If you don't have Client Accounts, you can still get value from Databoard Account Templates. Account Templates for Databoards are most often used by standard users to create standardized versions of dashboards that focus on different initiatives or projects. When you work on an initiative or a project, you can save its Databoard as an Account Template so the next time you work on a relevant initiative or project, you can have the same format for the Databoard. 

For example, you may create a Campaign Performance Template that can be used whenever you launch a new Campaign, or a Page Performance Template that's used to analyze individual page performance. 

How to organize Databoard Account Templates with Tags

Tags help organize Databoard Account Templates in your Account based on department, initiative, service, etc. 

  1. Navigate to Databoards > Account Templates.
  2. Hover over the Template that you want to Tag. Click on the  Tag icon in the bottom right-hand corner.
  3. Click  + Create new to create a new Tag. Click Manage tags to edit any existing Tags. Select the appropriate checkbox(es) to add Tags to the Template and click Apply to save them.

How to save a Databoard as an Account Template

To save a Databoard as an Account Template, navigate to the  Databoards page. From here, you can save any Databoard in your Account as an Account Template. 

Hover over the Databoard you want to save as an Account Template and click ... > Save as Template

In the Save Template popup, add a Template Name, Description (optional) to give more context to the Template and further explain the use case, and set Template permissions.

How to edit a Databoard Account Template

To edit a Databoard Account Template, navigate to  Databoards > Account Templates. Hover over the Template you'd like to edit and click Edit. This will open the Template in the Designer.

How to delete a Databoard Account Template

To delete a Databoard Account Template, navigate to Databoards > Account Templates. Hover over the Template you'd like to delete and click ... > Delete
