How to use Query Builder to sync more historical data

The amount of historical data that initially syncs with Databox differs for each Data Source, depending on a number of factors. From there, more historical data is accumulated over time. Learn more here.

In order to achieve your reporting objectives, you may need access to more historical data than is available for Basic Metrics. For certain Data Sources, this is possible using Query Builder. Learn which Data Sources have Query Builders available here

Query Builder is available in Plus and Business Accounts. Agency Basic Accounts have access to Query Builder in the Agency Account only. Request a trial of Query Builder by following these steps.

For example, when a new Google Analytics Data Source is connected with Databox, 3 months worth of historical data is initially synced. In the example below, we'll create a Custom Metric to report on Sessions with longer Date Ranges, like Quarter to Date, Year to Date, etc., selected.

1
Navigate to Metrics > Query Builder
2
Click the green + New query button
3
Select the appropriate Google Analytics Data Source
4
We'll enter Sessions as the Custom Metric Name
5
From the Metric drop-down list, we'll select Sessions
6
For our Date Ranges, we'll select Week to Date, Month to Date, Quarter to Date, Year to Date, Last Month, Last Quarter, Last Year, and Last 12 Months
7
We'll choose Previous Period from the Compare With drop-down, so data from the previous period of all select Date Ranges will be synced as well
8
Click Run query to generate a Data Preview of the Custom Metric
9
Once we confirm that these are the results we're looking for, we'll click Save
Pro Tip: Now we can easily create more Custom Metrics with the same Date Range specifications.
10
On the Query Builder page, click on the arrow next to the Edit button
11
 Click Duplicate
12
Update the Custom Metric Name,  Metric,  Dimension (optional), and Filter (optional)
13
Click Run query to generate a Data Preview of the Custom Metric
14
Once we confirm that these are the results we're looking for, we'll click Save
15
Repeat steps 10-14 until you have built all of the Custom Metrics you need with more historical data
