How to connect Ahrefs to Databox

To connect an Ahrefs Account in Databox, go to  Data Manager > + New connection. Type Ahrefs in the search bar and click on the green Connect button. This will open the Activation window.

To fill out the necessary fields, we must define the Domain and Mode for our Ahrefs Account.

Enter the target domain that you want to track in the Domain field. Results may differ if you enter your domain with or without "www."

Enter the mode of operation in the Mode field. Mode options are "Exact," "Domain," "Subdomains," or "Prefix." If you enter exact, the exact URL is used. If you enter domain, the domain without subdomains will be used. If you enter subdomains, the domain with all of its subdomains will be used. Lastly, if you enter prefix, the domain with all of its subdomains and a specified path will be used.

Which Ahrefs plans have API access?

The use of Ahref's API is based on your Ahref's subscription. Only paying Ahrefs customers can access the API and sync data with Databox.

What's the maximum amount of historical data initially available when you use a new Ahrefs Metric in Databox?

When you connect a new Ahrefs Data Source in Databox, no historical data is initially synced. Data is synced for the Metrics that are being used in your Account, so when you first use a new Ahrefs Metric, data will start to sync.

Certain Metrics may have more or less historical data available. For example, Metric "Referring Domains by New vs Lost" has 36 months of historical data available once it is being used in your Databox account.

For more information about the amount of historical data available for a specific Metric, please contact our Support Team at help@databox.com.

Pro Tip:  In order to start syncing data for a Metric, you can add it to your Metrics screen, use it in a Scorecard, set a Goal around it, create an Alert for it, or add it to a Databoard. Learn more here

The amount of historical data you're able to sync in Databox is dependent on your Databox plan. Learn more here.

What time zone does Ahrefs data sync in?

Ahrefs data is synced in UTC.

How often does Ahrefs data sync?

All Ahrefs Data Sources will sync once a day with Databox.

The reason for this sync schedule is due API rows are being charged inside Ahrefs.

If you're interested in lowering your Ahrefs costs, you can reduce the sync frequency further to once per week or once per month. Please contact help@databox.com for more information.

  • All Metrics by Dimensions returns top 50 results for a selected metric. E.g. Metric ''Backlinks by Referring Domain'' will return the top 50 referring domains.

API Limitations

  • Currently, only live backlinks are accessible from Ahrefs API. Therefore, "Backlinks" Metrics include data only for live backlinks.
