Overview: Datablock Editor

Datablock Editor allows you to populate the Datablock to meet your specific data needs. Datablock Editor options differ depending on the visualization selected, so we encourage you to test the functionality yourself to learn what you can do with different visualizations.

Below, we will walk through the Datablock Editor for a Line Chart.

Datablock Title: Enter a name for the Datablock. This will appear at the top of the Datablock on the Databoard and should be a good indicator of what the Datablock is showing.
Pro Tip: Typically, the Datablock Title is named the same as the Metric that you select for the Datablock.
Advanced Settings: Open the Advanced Settings window by clicking on the gear icon to the right of the Datablock TItle to further customize the Datablock. This includes changing Format, Scale, Comparison Values, and more. Learn more about Advanced Settings here
Data Source: Select the Data Source that you want to populate the Datablock from the Data Source drop-down list.
Metric: Select the Metric that you want to populate the Datablock from the Metric drop-down list. Click on the tabs at the top to switch between Basic, Custom and Calculated Metrics.
Date Ranges: Choose the Date Ranges that you want available as options for the Datablock. The Date Range options are dependent on how much historical data is accessible through the Data Source's public API, any API limits that the Data Source may set to restrict how much data can be synced, and the visualization type that you have selected for the Datablock. In most cases, you can add up to Date Ranges to a Datablock.
Pro Tip: Learn more about how to potentially sync more historical data from Data Sources here
The Date Range with the circled 1 to the left of it is the Primary Date Range. This is the Date Range that the Databorad will load to when it is first opened, so it should be the most significant Date Range to you and your team. Learn how to set the Primary Date Range here
Pro Tip: If the same Date Ranges are used across all Datablock on a Datablock, you will see them in the Master Date Range Switcher, located in the bottom right of the Streaming URL. Learn more about the Master Date Range Switcher here
Comparison Value: Select the Comparison Value for your Datablock. This determines what data my current performance will be compared against. Depending on the selection, either the Comparison Percentage or the Goal Percentage will be set at the top of the Databock. On the Line Chart, a line will be added to reflect the data from the Comparison period.
Cumulative: Use the toggle to determine whether the Line Chart will display a cumulative graph. For certain Metrics and Date Ranges, the Cumulative option may be disabled because it would necessitate adding together unique values and would produce inaccurate data.
Additional Lines: Choose whether you want any additional lines added to your Datablock, like the "Previous" line, "Goal" line, "Average" line, or "Trend" line. These add context to the Datablock and helps you analyze your performance.
