# Use a template

Templates help you save time by reusing proven Databoard and Report layouts. Instead of starting from scratch, you can use a template, select data sources, and customize it to your needs. This makes reporting more efficient and consistent across your team.

## Use a template

You can use both public templates (available to all Databox users) and ![lock](/assets/lock.2fb1bbc208afcc03d15a0a45f22bdf7f830322016e038e5721965851130807af.419bb737.svg) account templates (created and visible only within your account).

### For Databoards

To use a **Databoard template**:

1. Go to the [Databoards](https://app.databox.com/databoards) page.
2. Click the **down arrow** (![chevron-down](/assets/chevron-down.dfd0e90adc6eb576be32262463090aae7c7f5408ed7975e3795f69775e36d174.419bb737.svg)) next to the + New Databoard button.
3. Choose either **Use** **Account Template** or **Use Public Template**.
4. Hover over the template you want to use and click **Use Template**.
5. Select the necessary data sources and customize the Databoard as needed.


### For reports

To use a **report template**:

1. Go to [Reports > Account Templates](https://app.databox.com/reports/account-templates) or [Reports > Public Templates](https://app.databox.com/reports/public-templates).
2. Hover over the template you want to use and click **Use Template**.
3. Customize the report by [editing content](/add-content-to-single-page-reports-and-slide-presentations) and adjusting visualizations as needed.


Yes. Once you use a template, it becomes a separate Databoard or Report that you can freely edit.

Public templates may be removed, replaced, or updated by Databox to ensure they align with best practices, reflect current integrations and metrics, or provide more relevant content. If a specific template is no longer available, it may have been retired or merged with another template.
